Fifa 22 review: a promising start to the fifth generation of PlayStation
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo leave Euro 2020 drama and are in new clubs and new competitions. Then there's the potential four-horse race of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premier League, as well as next year's World Cup we look forward to.
And as if that were not enough, we now have the latest EA Sports offering in their FIFA franchise - and it's the first real attempt at next-gen consoles. The National got early access to the PlayStation 5 version, so here's how we found it so far:
Gameplay
Most people who have played Fifa in recent years will agree that the game has a lot to do off the pitch, with tons of modes, teams, and things to do, but they quickly tire of the mechanics on the pitch. FIFA 21 has become predictable due to the abuse of certain shooting methods, too many unrealistic goals in the net, and increasing frustration with passing, poor direction and weight.
It was fine for quick pickup and play, but for those who like to immerse themselves in the game's virtual world, there are sure to be some controllers to knock out after a month or two, let alone six months later. . However, Fifa 22 is all about setting things up on the pitch, and since we're on a new console right now, players can really expect a pretty big leap in terms of the gaming experience. The good news is that it feels like a different and improved game.
The most noticeable difference is that the game is much slower. Attacks are built more subtly compared to last year's pass button spamming, and it's all a lot smoother as players move to the ball positions wherever you want.
This is thanks to the new, exclusive HyperMotion technology on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, which has allowed 22 professional players to be caught simultaneously on the pitch to study their movements.
EA said it would add authenticity and definitely feel more like a soccer game with 4,000 new animations rather than an arcade pinball machine. If you want to switch from left to right, your defender is advanced, ready and waiting.
Another big addition from EA this year is a rework of tactical AI to make attacking players better decisions, more personality, and defensive units keeping their shape but affected by fatigue levels.
I found the first half of the matches restrained, the game remaining in small areas on the pitch and a few goals scored before the break as the game starts late. Good so far. Another FIFA 21 complaint was the ball physics. Once it felt like you were playing with a ball, other times it was a beach ball.
The weight of the pass is definitely better and the goalkeepers can finally kick the ball beyond the center line. My only complaint is about shooting - when will we see the cube-style shot accompanying a low mower, a sophisticated curling iron, and a soaring ride?
By far, the most important issue is the caregivers. Sometimes they're just too good. They bring world-class rescue after world-class rescue, but without that the backlog would be too big, so how do you fix it? EA claims the new system has over 600 animations, though many of them are very similar to previous FIFA titles.
Experienced players will also notice how difficult it is to take a shot from the penalty area. Defenders are quick to push their attackers out and get into blocks when a goal seems most likely. This means that there are clear loopholes to be made, but it may frustrate some players. Dingy goals are also missing - where the balls bounce off the line or the player makes a mistake, but how much more realistic can that be?
Overall, the pitch is fresh and more refined. Hopefully future update patches won't change that much.
This article ends here. I'd like to say if you do not know how to select a legitimate website when you are trying to buy FIFA 22 Coins, MMoexp is your best choice.
