EA SPORTS removes Jon Gruden from Madden 22 after an email scandal
Following Jon Gruden's resignation from The Raiders, EA SPORTS announced that he would be removed from Madden 22. After the former coach's racist, homophobic and sexist emails leaked, the franchise is removing him to promote "inclusion and justice."
In the past few days, the NFL's news mill has been flooded with Jon Gruden's email leaks. During the Las Vegas Raiders season 3-2, the former coach and media personality quit because he "didn't want to be distracted."
The e-mails were discovered during an investigation into the Washington Football Team, and Gruden's correspondence dates back to his time as an ESPN media personality.
In response to the context surrounding his resignation, EA SPORTS has decided to remove him from Madden 22 entirely. Instead, he will be replaced with "general similar".
