The 5 most important things you should know about Fall Guys
Right now, you are aware of the power of Battle Royale known as Fall Guys. The official release, which was shown at various gaming events around the world before the hugely successful beta was launched, resulted in as many as 1.5 million players signing up in the first 24 hours. Why shouldn't they do that? It's fun, it's fresh, and it's so addictive.
However, before installing the new golden baby from Mediatonic and Devolver Digital, it's good to know what the game is all about and how to get an edge over your friends and opponents. That's why we've put together a guide to the five basic things you need to know before you start using Fall Guys.
Mini games about weapons
The most obvious but most beneficial thing to know before entering Fall Guys is that this is not your traditional battle royale game. While the genre is still relatively new, it has been infused with shooters like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG Mobile. Fall Guys pits 60 skinny bean-like humanoids against each other in a series of four to six mini-games, until one of them is the overall winner. There are no weapons at all with platformer, memory, collaboration, quick thinking, and a little bit of luck to secure seat number one.
Teamwork is key
There is strength in numbers. Fall Guys has 25 mini-games (at the time of writing) and while many will see you play solo; Several others require you to collaborate with other Fall Guys. From Fall Ball to Egg Scramble and Hoopsie Daisy, teamwork is the safe way to progress to the next round. If there are any collectibles, lay them out and help protect your party members when they are disturbed by enemies. If there is a goal that requires cooperation, try to move together and work in groups to make the most impact ... unless you're on the yellow team. We have nothing for you here.
What a dive!
Like Luis Suarez on the soccer field, Fall Guys can make some impressive dives when needed. The mechanics are perfect for adding a bit of courage to those tricky jumps, and also generally works faster if you don't land correctly. Moreover, diving can be really useful when crowds show up at levels like Door Dash, where instead of breaking through the crowd, you can just jump and dive like a gazelle.
Don't always follow the package
Sometimes a little improvisation can make the difference between the first and second items. Fall Guys has lots of racing games where 90% of runners will swear by the same path. As you evolve and experiment with your routes, it's surprising how often you can end up at the top. Good examples of this are Dizzy Heights, Gate Crash and Whirlygig.
Grab it, grab it, grab it
One of the main mechanics that is without a doubt the most overlooked and easily forgotten in Fall Guys is the grab. In addition to nasty rivals on the finish line, grabbing can be used to lift your character off the shelves, pick up items in team games, and more importantly, to win a Fall Mountain crown. It's tragic when people on the internet realize that you just aren't jumping into a gold hat.
