Server Balance, Faction Change and Blizzard's Failures
Have been on Whitemane since day one classic vanilla. It was picked before the launch due to an the estimated balance of 50/50. This would be (roughly) 50/50 on all vanilla servers and 50/50 for half of TBC. As time went on, the alliance saw people quit for other servers until horde began to take over.
The ally who was present on the server, after the first chunk of left was overrun, then left, and then others followed because of the same reasons. It has happened on almost every single server with one faction.
The ally who left after the imbalance occurred aren't going away because they want to be the sole ally server. They're leaving because about a quarter of the population would like that, and went away, and now they're not able to keep up, and which is why they have to leave.
The horde will notice that their quests are simpler to complete, but there's no alliance whatsoever. Certain, a portion of the Horde would prefer this similar to the portion of the ally pop who first quit for an ally-only server. There's still a huge majority of players choosing their server due to it being PVP-based and around 50/50. Since they like wpvp as an escape from the quest, leveling up, or simply a fun 1vX. They picked to play on a PVP server with a similar balance , not an PVE server.
The fact that there's only one balanced pvp server isn't because everyone have decided to use an pve server. It's because a portion decided to leave, while the remainder were overrun and gave up on the fight.
Each pserver, which is the reason it exists, generally one launch at a given time, which means everybody was on the same server. A pvp server with a 50/50 split is perfect for the majority of people who enjoy playing the game of pvp.
This isn't the scenario that the majority of players who are currently on pvp servers ever really would like to see. There is no one interested in staying in a declining faction, or be the first one to launch it. The faction then disintegrates and never returns. This is not because it's the expectation of most people, but because of the consequence of certain people who have left.
There should be a faction change service for wotlk. It was a Wotlk service. Similar to LFD as well as dualspec are wotlk systems , lol.
The reason for not having a faction change, and using vaguely "role players' immersion "...
Have you ever seen that situation before? No.
Is there a problem in the retail stores that offer FC? No.
Anyone else heard of this excuse? No.
And if it's some huge RP shocking immersion scuff, then limit it to RP servers and go on...
This is only one of many options to fix the balance between factions. Merge/Megaserver is another option, however the most straightforward solution is to keep the way things were before and not include faction change. Try your best to go human and check where the dice fall in the balance. At the very least , the players of the server could populate both factions in this manner.
Ah, wait, blizzard is betting on the 2nd and 3rd accounts for that , and I can see it's higher than one-time faction change. This must be addressed in a loud manner, but we've grown familiar with the sexiness of blizzard, which is why, like a abused partner , we've remained silent. This isn't acceptable, the way they've let it occur and it's not okay that they exploit it to their own advantage.
The Dailies of the Isle of Q was the aspect I was most interested in replaying in TBC fully for the closing quarters wpvp element. Everyone killing each other each day was just a bit of fun for me. Then, after I chose the 50/50...
Whitemane which was home to a similar number of players for a long time, even the third generation of TBC has now been completely devoid of alliance. I am a 2k+ multibracket multiclass pvper . I'm looking for my casual play wpvp that is element of vanilla tbc and wotlk(cata+mop too). Perhaps I'll have to go somewhere else to play something similar to wotlk in the event that the blizzard doesn't offer it.
