Review: FIFA 22 is a step in the right direction for the series
The latest edition of the EA Sports FIFA 22 FIFA franchise is finally out and expectations are high with some of the mediocre editions that have come out in recent years.
The first few teasers got players excited about the new features announced. EA has introduced a new motion capture technology called "HyperMotion" that seems to provide better gameplay on the next generation of consoles. They also added new features to Volta Football and Career Mode.
When Volta was added to the game in FIFA 20, players were excited to experience "street ball" again as EA ended the FIFA Street franchise. This year's new version seems to be restoring the excitement with the addition of an arcade mode that you can play with your friends and other online players on weekends.
While the new arcade mode has a few mini-games to be played, EA seems to have skipped a step by only allowing the game to play on weekends. For casual players who can only play at certain times of the week, they will miss one of the more relaxing and fun game modes to be released this year.
One of the game modes that fans have asked to upgrade is the Career Mode. In career mode, the player can choose to complete the career of a created or existing character or take over the entire club and raise it to the top of world football.
This year's new feature gives players the ability to build a club from scratch, including kits and a stadium. This gives players a fun new way to form their own team instead of taking over an existing club.
For those looking to make the game a bit more difficult, they can also increase the difficulty level and standards for their club to suit their preferred game mode.
This year's game seems to be slower than previous editions. The "HyperMotion" technology makes the game feel a bit more realistic in terms of the style of play that suits it best.
In previous games, pace was the main metric sought by players in their teams, but players with a better overall statistical balance seem to be the most useful this year. Defenders seem a bit spoiled as they make unrealistic saving throws in some moves, but also allow some easier shots.
The gameplay is more prominent in one of the more popular game modes, Ultimate Team or better known as FUT. In FUT, players form a set of cards that they collect in packs or pay with in-game currency they earn during the game.
FUT is also one of the more controversial game modes due to the "loot boxes" that can be purchased with real money. Some say it makes people addicted to buying packages. To counter this, EA has added a feature to the pack preview to help players decide whether to buy them or not.
While this is a handy feature, players can only view one package at a time, and so far it has only been used to view basic packages in the store, not promotional packages that cost more money.
EA has also revamped the competitive FUT side by introducing a new qualifier system for the weekly competition, the FUT Champions Weekend League. Instead of advancing through division wins throughout the week, players can now accumulate points at their own pace without being penalized for losing their rivals' matches.
After accumulating enough points, players will enter the playoffs, where they will have several chances to qualify for the weekend competition.
While it takes a little longer to qualify, it makes qualifying more accessible to regular players.
The new system also provides a steady stream of free packs, which are better rewards compared to previous games. Qualifying for the Weekend League will provide better rewards for losses in each game than in previous editions, meaning players have a better chance of getting some of the more valuable items in the game.
Overall, FIFA 22 is a nice game that has some downsides. The gameplay could be better and some features need to be improved to serve a wider audience, but anyone who decides to play the game is sure to have a lot of fun.
This article ends here. I'd like to say if you do not know how to select a legitimate website when you are trying to buy FUT 22 Coins, MMoexp.com is your best choice.
