OSRS update sets taxes on gold and items
After the options were discussed and posted to the community, the Old School RuneScape team updated the game with the introduction of the Grand Exchange Tax and other economic solutions. The update also introduces changes to the item sink and PvP.
Upon completion of the decision-making process, the Grand Exchange tax came into effect, with a 1% tax rate levied on the seller's income after selling the item. It applies per item and the tax does not apply to transactions below 100 GP, and each seller can see what his final income will be if he puts the item up for sale. At the top, there is also no tax on items sold for more than GP 499,999,999. Added to this is a tax of 5 million GP. Another load limitation covers most of the tools used by very new players. Items such as scissors, saw, hammers, chisels and watering cans will not be taxed to ensure the free rotation of these items.
At 20, Old School RuneScape's economy may be supporting such high deals and inflation issues, but this shift should be a useful gold mine for the economy. There is also a transaction change between players, with a delay in being able to press the Accept button. This gives you a few seconds to check the contract before accepting it in the hope of avoiding further fraud.
To accommodate taxes, there is an item absorption system that focuses on inflation by placing taxes in a virtual vault and the team will use that gold to just buy some items from the economy and remove them. Removing some items from the economy should help, but the team wants to start with a small amount of items. Additional items may qualify once they see how the system works.
New PvP changes have also been made to make sure players are not tricked into acquiring skulls in PvP, where the PK skull prevention check box can be checked. They also added additional safe areas.
