OSRS Closes 2021 With an Event, and a Look to 2022
The Old School RuneScape team is closing out 2021 with the Christmas event, review of views and proposed changes to the Ironman Group, additions to absorb items, and a 2022 outlook, including changes to the team's approach to new features.
Christmas is held at the OSRS, and during the snow season, you will receive gifts for helping the heir who wants to restore his knight's armor, Sir Vyvin, to its former white color after washing it in a Santa Claus costume. If you help him, there will be rewards.
The recent introduction of taxation systems and items has been a success, removing an average of almost 30 billion GP per day from the system. The team added a few more items to the item dropout list. There is no plan to raise the tax rates yet, but some ideas have emerged in the community about how to improve these new systems as you use them.
The successful launch of Group Ironman after it was the requested feature helped change plans to release additional content, but now feedback the team has received such as more clarity on how to teleport to the homes of group members will work, concerns about players entering your home remotely and possible features such as Iron Group players who can trade items that are otherwise not tradable between members of their group. The community votes on proposals and requests to resolve some of these issues.
Finally, there's a sneak peek of what's to come, including the Fifth General, the Nex, coming in the next major content update on January 5 and the next iteration of God Wars Dungeon. many of the changes and improvements this year are system improvements with some features and content. In 2022, the team will make changes to the iteration process, which meant team members had two days off each month to try to add new features or make changes. However, it will now be held three times a year during the weekly game jam with no other breaks this week. This means no updates for these weeks, but hopefully the team members will be able to spend uninterrupted time making more improvements and adding new features.
