Humankind Vs Civilization 6 - What are the differences?
They look similar at first glance, but you might be wondering what the differences are between Amplitude Studios 'Humankind and Firaxis' Civilization 6. Both games are highly advanced 4X staggered strategies where the player takes control of the game. the people make an effort to steer them towards the dominant goal. . But what are the differences, both obvious and nuanced, between the two games? Well, don't be afraid of my would-be global despot, that's what we're here for.
History versus fiction
Almost the biggest thing that separates humanity from Civilization 6 is the way they interact with the leaders of each culture. While Civilization 6 allows players to choose from over 20 historical leaders, including Teddy Roosevelt and Peter the Great, humanity takes a completely different approach, allowing players to create their own leader from scratch using a detailed character creation sequence.
Cultures change
Perhaps one of the biggest differences between the two games is the way they handle choosing a civilization (if you forgive the pun). In Civilization 6, the civilization you choose is the one you play from start to finish. However, in humanity, you can change your civilization every time you start a new era, or you can just continue the civilization you started with and only upgrade units and infrastructure as you see fit.
Progress from era to era
Another significant way the two games differ in their approach to 4X strategy is the way they each handle progression. Rather than simply moving from one era to another through research, humanity allows people to build their megalomania in a variety of other ways, such as territory expansion, population size, and conquest. Simply put, this means that humanity will reward the way you play and allow you to advance through any era as a diplomat, military commander or economic scientist, not just an inventor, as Civilization 6 now allows.
Review to the end
While games in Civilization 6 may end long before reaching the modern era by simply claiming the map much earlier, in Humankind each game goes on to the end where Fame scores are used as a measure to see how successfully you were in each era.
