Diablo II Resurrected: What's New to Know
Vicarious Visions and Blizzard welcome gamers back to their game-defining action RPG after 20 years. Rumor has it that Diablo II: Resurrected includes both new and old elements that will usher in a new generation of players.
Diablo II remains a cult game in the eyes of fans, and the remaster is expected to introduce a new generation to the classic series, just in time for Diablo IV.
History
Following the events of the original Diablo, Diablo II Resurrected opens with Dark Wanderer. This erstwhile hero defeated Diablo, the Lord of Dread, with a soulstone monster that he placed in his body. However, their evil could not be stopped. The Dark Wanderer eventually lost control and, through the Diablo Wanderer, began another conquest, starting with freeing his brothers. It's been a long time since Diablo worked with his brothers, who were also sealed in soul stones. Diablo, Mephisto and Baal are the highest demons known as the Supreme Evil. Together, they could easily destroy the Sanctuary ... and that's just the beginning.
Until another hero rises to follow the Dark Wanderer and stops Diablo and his brothers, players take on the role of this new hero and embark on a mission to save the Sanctuary from the Prime Evil. Diablo II includes four acts, including Diablo, Lord of Terror, and Mephisto, Lord of Hatred. After Act Four, players will face Baal, the Lord of Destruction, as the last Prime Evil. Players must fight hordes of demonic creatures to collect armor, weapons and enchanted items in the ultimate action RPG game that will give players hours of grinding and experimenting with the equipment collected.
News worth knowing
Diablo II: Resurrected is a Diablo II remaster and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion pack. Blizzard turned to one of the best remastering teams in the industry, Vicarious Visions, for help. After working on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the studio merged with Blizzard Entertainment. Both companies have already shared their parent company, Activision.
Fans of the original game will be pleased to hear that the remaster is based on the original game. Blizzard and Vicarious Visions are built on top of Diablo II to keep it fresh while keeping the same game mechanics. Their main goal is to pull the nostalgic strings of players and implement a system they call 70/30. Seventy percent of the look and feel of the game should remain unchanged and give it a classic meaning, while 30 percent should introduce something new to enhance the experience. While the original Diablo II was in 2D, the remaster is in 3D, meaning players can see much more detail in the action and surroundings than ever before. Legacy Toggle will also appear in the game, allowing players to switch between the classic look and the new one.
All movies and audio have been remastered to showcase the beautiful game. Even so, all changes were made using the original concept art and renderings. The characters' skills and appearance have been carefully crafted to ensure their appearance and sound are in line with the 70/30 idea.
As for the combat system, Diablo II: Resurrected is still running in 25 frames. As in the original game, the spells and abilities worked in terms of structures necessary for players looking to calculate character DPS. Gamers should be pleased to see that the game's calculations remain the same while the images are displayed at the current FPS. New to the game is controller support in the game, although they plan to make the gameplay with the mouse and keyboard very similar.
Eight player multiplayer, PVP and trading will also return in the remaster. All characters have common equipment and it is possible to play online or offline. When playing online, players will use global servers to play against anyone in the world.
