Developer RuneScape reveals drops for Abyssal Slayer creatures
On February 28, the Slayer skill will receive its first major update since the launch of Nodon Front last July. This comes in the form of new Slayer monsters designed to spice up the support skill that is the main source of money for many RuneScape players. We already knew that this update would add three new Abyssal Slayer creatures to RuneScape, but developer Jagex has now provided us with some additional information on key aspects of their loot tables.
The largest supplies come from the Lords of the Abyss, who need 115 Assassins to kill. These powerful demons drop a new level 92 melee weapon, the Abyss of the Scourge. This is an update to the iconic Abyssal Whip that was first added to the classic MMORPG over 17 years ago. Successful Scourge attacks activate the Abyss Parasite effect, extending the duration of all melee bleeding abilities.
Not only Lords also have interesting unique drops. Abyssal Beasts (105 Slayer) will drop Jaws of the Abyss Helmet, a Level 85 Power Armor Melee Helmet. As with the drops of other Abyssassin creatures, this strengthens the various bleeding abilities found in RuneScape.
Weaker Abyss minions that require 95 Slayers to be killed do not have unique drops. However, they can drop Abyss Armor Spikes, which are consumables to upgrade existing Armor Spikes or Clipped Armor Spikes. This drop can be obtained from all three of the new Slayer monsters.
Double XP on the way!
While the Abyssal Slayer creatures are exciting, they won't be added to RuneScape for the next 10 days. In the meantime, why not start training these skills? The Double XP Live Event is now live and will run until February 28.
Regular accounts can earn double experience on all skills during this period. Each player has 48 hours of allotted time to use before the event ends. As always, Ironmen accounts are not allowed to participate.
